Toolbox's Random Picker has two modes: spin a name out of a list you type in, or draw a number from any from-to range you set. Use it for prize draws, splitting people into groups, picking who is on duty, or deciding presentation order - any moment that needs a fair choice nobody can influence.

In name mode you add people to the list by last, middle and first name. The list is saved in your browser localStorage, so it is still there next time you open the page and you never have to retype it. You can edit or delete individual rows, bulk-delete the ones you tick, and page through a long list.

In number mode you set a lower and an upper bound and draw. Turn on the no-repeat option and each number comes out only once until the range is exhausted - exactly what you want when assigning seat numbers or drawing several prizes in a row without duplicates.

Draws use an unbiased algorithm, which means every name in the list and every number in the range has exactly the same chance of coming up - nothing favours whoever happens to sit at the top or the bottom of the list.

What it does

  • Spin a name from a list

Enter the participants once, then draw as many times as you need.

  • Draw a number from any range

Set any lower and upper bound, negative values included, for seat numbers or ticket codes.

  • No-repeat mode

Each result appears only once, which is what you want for consecutive prize draws.

  • Your list is remembered

The list and the draw history live in browser localStorage and survive a reload.

  • Genuinely fair odds

An unbiased draw algorithm gives every entry the same probability.

  • Result announcement

The winner appears with a confetti effect, large enough to project on a screen at an event.

How to run a random draw

  1. Choose a mode

Press the Names tab to draw from a list, or the Numbers tab to draw from a range.

  2. Enter your data

In name mode, add each participant to the list. In number mode, fill in the from and to values.

  3. Set the draw options

Turn on no-repeat if each result may only come up once during the session.

  4. Draw

The result appears in the middle of the screen with an announcement effect, big enough for a room to read.

Random picker FAQ

Are the results genuinely random?

Yes. Draws use an unbiased algorithm, so every name in the list and every number in the range has exactly the same probability regardless of its position in the list.

Is my list of names stored on a server?

No. The list lives in the localStorage of the browser you are using. No server receives it, and it does not sync to any other device.

How do I stop the same person winning twice?

Turn on the no-repeat option before drawing. Each result that comes out is removed from later draws until the list or the range is exhausted.

How many names can I add?

There is no hard limit. Long lists are paginated automatically, and the practical ceiling is whatever localStorage quota the browser allows - typically around 5 MB, which is tens of thousands of rows.

Can I draw negative numbers or very wide ranges?

Yes. Both bounds accept negative values, and the widest supported range runs from -1,000,000,000 to 1,000,000,000.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once the page has loaded, drawing happens entirely in the browser and keeps working without a connection.
